On July 23, 2008, the Labor and Employment Team at Lee & Ko participated in a bid for the ‘Chinese Labor Contract Law Research Project’ launched by the Ministry of Legislation. Lee & Ko was awarded the project and entered into a contract for the research on August 14. Since the opening of its Beijing Office in July of 2005, Lee & Ko has been advising Korean companies on entering the Chinese market, including such projects as a joint venture for the launch of Shinsegae’s E-Mart in Shanghai and the launch of SK Networks in Beijing and Shanghai. After the signing of the contract for the research project, Lee & Ko reported its commencement of the project to the Ministry of Legislation on September 11. After a mid-review seminar, scheduled for early October, Lee & Ko is expected to complete the research and submit a final report to the Ministry of Legislation by the end of November.
