On April 14, 2020, Law Times reported on Lee & Ko’s response to the issues relating to labor, rehabilitation/bankruptcy, and finance that have been arising due to the prolonged COVID19 crisis.
According to the Law Times, “Last month, Lee & Ko established a COVID19 TF team which consists of over 20 professionals from various teams, such as finance, labor, and litigation, led by Attorney Sang Gon Kim. All inquiries relating to the coronavirus are forwarded to the TF team, and multifarious inquiries are met with a multi-directional approach.” The Law Times also reported, “In addition, as the possibility of corporate restructuring in various industries are increasing, Lee & Ko has recently expanded and reorganized its Insolvency Team into a walkout team and three rehabilitation teams in order to prepare for the increasing number of companies that will be filing for rehabilitation proceedings.”
With regard to the COVID 19 situation, Lee & Ko has been responding quickly to legal demands in all areas of corporate activities. The banking team has been providing legal advice to the government regarding quantitative easing measures to proactively respond to the economic crisis while advising companies on various measures to secure liquidity. The labor team has been responding to issues such as restructuring in the job market, vitalizing telecommuting, and reducing working hours. Meanwhile, Lee & Ko launched a ‘COVID-19 Research Center’ on its website to share relevant information with its clients.
