Beomsang Lim is an attorney at Lee & Ko with extensive experience advising Korean companies on Indonesia-related legal matters. Since 2020, Mr. Lim has been based in Indonesia, where he has advised Korean financial institutions, conglomerates and other corporate clients on their market entry, business expansion, investments, acquisitions, regulatory matters and disputes.
Mr. Lim’s practice covers a broad range of corporate and regulatory matters, including mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, financial regulations, antitrust and competition, labor and employment, and civil and criminal disputes. Drawing on his on-the-ground experience in Indonesia and his close working relationships with local counsel and relevant professionals, he provides practical and commercially focused advice tailored to the needs of Korean clients operating or investing in Indonesia.
In the M&A and corporate advisory area, Mr. Lim has advised Korean financial institutions, including financial groups, commercial banks, automotive finance companies, securities firms and state-owned banks, on a variety of Indonesia-related transactions and regulatory matters. His experience includes the establishment of financial holding companies, capital restructuring, acquisitions of local companies, joint ventures, financial regulatory advice and general corporate operations. He has also advised Korean companies on strategic investments and acquisitions in the natural resources, technology and industrial sectors, including nickel mining projects and equity transactions involving Indonesian joint ventures.
Mr. Lim has also advised Korean companies on joint operation structures, master franchise arrangements, corporate reorganizations and divestitures involving Indonesian subsidiaries and business units. His experience includes assisting Korean IT, food and beverage, and conglomerate clients with structuring, negotiation and implementation of their Indonesia-related business arrangements.
In the infrastructure and real estate sectors, Mr. Lim has advised Korean asset management companies and investors on projects involving data centers, hydroelectric power plants and hospitality developments in Indonesia, including legal issues relating to land acquisition, security interests and project implementation.
Mr. Lim also has significant experience in dispute resolution and regulatory defense. He has represented Korean financial institutions and corporate clients in civil litigation, arbitration and bankruptcy-related proceedings, including proceedings for Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations, known in Indonesia as PKPU, and has advised clients on regulatory investigations, enforcement risks and other sensitive matters involving Indonesian authorities.
