    Yang Ho Park, a partner at Lee & Ko, brings nearly 18 years of dedication and experience from the Prosecution Service to his specialized practice in criminal defense.

    During his tenure at the Prosecution Service, Mr. Park served as a prosecutor in multiple regional offices such as the Criminal Division I at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, the Special Crime Investigation Department at the Ulsan District Prosecutors’ Office as well as key roles at the Office of the Inspection General, Prosecution Service Division, and Legal Affairs Division at the Ministry of Justice.     李潤燮
    Mr. Youn Seob Lee is an expert on environmental issues with 27 years of experience at the Ministry of Environment, where he developed a deep understanding and expertise in analyzing and addressing various environmental issues. He has also acquired global expertise in environmental issues through his work at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China. Additionally, he has extensive experience in dealing with environmental issues from a corporate perspective, having served as an environmental advisor for major domestic companies.

    Kwangik Son is a partner in the Defense Industry Group. He is an expert in the areas of defense industry, government contracts, and aerospace.

    Mr. Son was commissioned as a Judge Advocate in 2002 and worked at the Ministry of National Defense, the Army Headquarters, the Special Warfare Command, and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) for most of his legal career. As a Judge Advocate officer, he was in charge of military disciplinary (or non-judicial punishment) procedure and military judicial proceedings. He handled other legal matters such as serving as legal counsel to defense acquisition programs and defense installation projects, domestic and overseas lawsuits, and international arbitration.

    After serving in the Army for 20 years, Mr. Son was honorably discharged as a Colonel of the Army in 2022.

    Jonghyuk Won is a Patent Attorney who brings 25 years of experience and expertise in chemistry, biotechnology, and healthcare with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB), and the Patent Court in connection with intellectual property rights, focusing on inventions in chemistry, biotechnology, and healthcare to his role at LEE & KO IP.

    During his tenure at the KIPO as an examiner, judge, chief judge, patent court technical examiner, and heads of various examination divisions (medical technology, environmental technology, residential life, and biohealthcare), Jonghyuk was selected by his KIPO colleagues as the manager they would most like to work with. He has contributed to the establishment of various policies and institutional improvements in the chemical and bio-intellectual property fields, including the improvement of the patent microorganism deposit system, amendments for the presentation of nucleotide and amino acid sequence listings, and the establishment of a practical guide for examination in the biotechnology field.

    Eun Young Park is a partner and the Chair of the firm’s Global Disputes Group. 

    Dr. Park is an exceptionally highly recognized dispute resolution lawyer, with particular expertise in international arbitration. He has more than 30 years of experience in international dispute resolution including commercial and investment treaty arbitration. He has served as an arbitrator under the rules of various arbitral institutions including ICC, SIAC, JCAA, AIAC, and KCAB. His arbitration practice covers a broad legal spectrum, including M&A, finance and insurance, infrastructure, energy, joint ventures, intellectual property and technology, pharmaceutical and life science, and overseas investments. He has successfully represented one the biggest US defense companies in the litigation against Korean government in Korean courts including the Supreme Court of the Republic of Korea as well as the US federal courts. 

    Dr. Park served as Vice-President and a Court Member of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA). He also served as Vice-Chair of the International Bar Association (IBA) Arbitration Committee and as a founding co-chair of the IBA Asia Pacific Arbitration Group. In 2014, he served as a member of the Subcommittee for drafting the IBA Guidelines on Conflict of Interests in International Arbitration. He has also served on the board of the Korean Council of International Arbitration and as an Executive Member of the Seoul International Dispute Resolution Center. He currently serves as a Member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) Court of Arbitration and has served as a member of the Board of the SIAC.

    Dr. Park has earned numerous top rankings as one of the “Leading Lawyers” in Chambers Asia-Pacific for International Arbitration, “Litigation Stars” in Euromoney’s Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific for International Arbitration, and “Thought Leaders” in Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration. According to Chambers Asia Pacific 2021, he is well-received as “a titan of the Korean arbitration Bar, with a fearsome reputation that precedes him.” In April 2022 he was awarded Best Lawyers in 2022 by Chosun Biz. He was awarded the Grand Prize Award in Arbitration Practice at the Annual Korea Legal Awards in June 2020, co-hosted by Money Today and the Korea In-house Counsel Association, for his innovative approach to arbitration and for his public contributions in the field. 

    Dr. Park’s publications include “Appellate Review in Investor State Arbitration, Reshaping the Investor-State Dispute Settlement System: Journeys for the 21st Century,” in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of ICSID Convention; “Legal Defences to Claims” in The Investment Treaty Arbitration Review; and “Tackling Diverse Issues in Arbitration Agreement: Focusing on M&A, Finance, Distributorship, Technology, and Construction” in the Korea Arbitration Review. He is co-author of the book “Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods around the Globe.” He has also written numerous articles on various arbitration-related topics, including emergency arbitration, interim relief, and document disclosure.

    Taewoo Kim is a certified tax accountant in the Tax Group. Prior to joining Lee & Ko, Mr. Kim served for 16 years in the National Tax Service (NTS) and Seoul Regional Tax Office, where he was responsible for a wide range of tax investigation in the Audit and Inspection Bureau – Division 1. Mr. Kim also has extensive experience in tax audit defence, tax consulting, and tax appeal.

    Hankil D. Kang is a member of Lee & Ko's Intellectual Property Group. Mr. Kang's main practice areas include IP-related international disputes and IP-related transactions. Prior to joining Lee & Ko, he was with another leading Korean law firm where he advised multinational clients involved in litigations in the U.S., including multiple 337 ITC investigations and district court cases involving patents, copyrights, trade secrets, and other IP related issues, to manage local counsel, develop litigation strategies, and assist with discovery process.     Wangkeun Song is a former Navy colonel and has worked for nearly 30 years in the Navy Ship Corps, the Military Staff Headquarters, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration's New Special Business Division and the Shipment Business Division.     Young Jung Kim is a specialist in financial regulations. He advises on various legal and financial regulatory issues that banks (including internet banks), bank holding companies, foreign bank branches, non-bank financial companies (saving banks, credit-specialized financial companies, mutual financial associations), and their major shareholders face in Korea and other jurisdictions that have adopted the Basel III Accord.

    Yong Jung Kim began his career in 2005 and has handled numerous matters relating to financial supervisions, inspections and sanctions of financial companies at the Financial Supervisory Service for fifteen years. He also advised private sector clients on financial regulations and corporate restructuring when he worked at a major Korean law firm and accounting firm.
