Introduction

|
It has been thirteen years since
Lee & Ko’s Pro Bono Committee has been found.

The Committee was found in April 2007 and consists of 9 teams. Each team is keeping Lee & Ko’s promise as a law firm to provide pro bono legal services by providing legal education to our isolated neighbors in need, pro bono representation, public interest litigation services, and etc.

In 2018, Lee & Ko’s Pro Bono Committee took its social responsibilities one step further.

Since 2016, we have provided pro bono legal services on a monthly basis to the social services organization Anna’s House, and we have also helped the organization in its soup kitchens and flea markets.
During snowy winters, about 40 of our members delivered coal brisquettes to those in need, including to the elderly who live alone. On January 2019, we helped laborers who worked for the Korean military during the Korean War gain recognition for their work and served as a pro bono role model for other law firms.

During the Korean War, laborers moved supplies for the military, and some of them died in battlefields. We represented the families of the deceased and successfully secured a ruling stating that the deceased should be considered as people who deserve national merit.

We have worked with the GoodWill Store to provide mentorship programs for college students who defected from North Korea. We have also worked with the Korean Red Cross to provide pro bono legal services to families in need.

Even into 2022, Lee & Ko will fulfill its social responsibilities as a trusted law firm.
Thank you.
