Other Activities

Lee & Ko’s Pro Bono Committee consists of
its Planning team and several other professional teams.
Each team holds regular meetings and are actively providing pro bono services.
01 Public Interest Litigation

In 2016, the Committee initiated a request for preliminary injunction on behalf of competitive swimmer Park Tae-hwan so that he could participate in the Rio Olympics. Lee & Ko’s international arbitration, litigation, and sports law teams cooperated to argue that the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee’s and the Korea Swimming Federation’s national team disqualification standards were inconsistent with those of the Olympic Charter and the World Anti-Doping Agency and served as a form of sports double jeopardy against Park. On 1 July 201 6, the Seoul Eastern District Court stated that Park’s disqualification was invalid and that Park was allowed to be a part of Korea’s national swimming team during the Rio Olympics. The preliminary injunction was granted.

02 Delivering coal briquettes to those in need

Since 2011, Lee & Ko has been purchasing coal briquettes and delivering them to the elderly who live alone and those in need.

03 Supporting single mothers
with Korea Welfare Services

Since 2008, Lee & Ko has held an internal flea market and have donated the proceeds to the social services organization Korea Welfare Services so they can be used to support single mothers.
