Hee Woong Kim, is a partner at Lee & Ko. His primary practice areas include M&A, Insurance, Foreign Investment and Corporate Governance.

Since joining Lee & Ko in 2007, Mr. Kim participated in the acquisition of Tongyang Magic by NH Bank-Glenwood Fund, the acquisition of Iriver by SK Telecom, transfer of shares in Korea Food Services Corporation by East Balt B.V., corporate split and share swap transactions, the acquisition of Hyundai Logistics by Igis I Corporation (a joint venture established by Lotte Group affiliates, Orix Corporation and Hyundai Merchant Marine), the acquisition of Korea Express Corporation by CJ Group, the acquisition of GS Power by KB Fund, the acquisition of Embrain by Macromill, the acquisition of LIG life Insurance by Woori Financial Group and various other acquisition transactions. He also participated in the merger between H General Insurance and J Fire & Marine Insurance. Furthermore, he is solely responsible for providing S Insurance Company, H Insurance Company, M Insurance Company and certain other insurance companies with legal advice regarding their insurance businesses. He has extensive experience in corporate control disputes among shareholders and has provided legal advice to insurance and credit card companies.

Prior to joining Lee & Ko, Mr. Kim served as a Judge Advocate for the Korean Navy and Ministry of Defense (MND) for three years, and while serving as the Chief of the Legal Department at Naval Logistics Command, he provided legal advice to the Navy and reviewed various types of agreements executed by the Navy. Also, during his military service at the First Fleet Command and at the Ministry of Defense, he served as both Prosecutor and Public Defender.

Mr. Kim obtained his LL.B. from Seoul National University in 1998 and his LL.M. from Duke University in 2013. He graduated from the Judicial Research & Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea and was admitted to the Korean Bar in 2004.
