Kwang Yul Kim is a partner in the Banking & Finance Group. Since joining Lee & Ko in 2004, Mr. Kim has focused his practice on projects in energy and infrastructure in Korea and overseas. With his vast experience in Korea, he has advised on all facets of Project Finance including finance documents and various project documents relating to the project (e.g., construction contracts, long term service agreements, operation and maintenance contracts, supply contracts, concession agreements, etc.), both domestic and overseas.

Mr. Kim has worked on numerous landmark projects undertaken in Korea including the Chonan-Nonsan Highway Project, the Seoul Subway #9 Project, Seoul-Chuncheon Highway Project, Incheon Grand Bridge Project, the Jangmoon LNG Combined Cycle Power Plant Project and the 450 MW Wirye LNG Combined Cycle Power Plant Project, which represents two of the largest power plant-related transactions in Korea in 2014, the 833 MW LNG-fired combined cycle power plant project in Oseong, Korea and the 1560MW LNG-fired combined cycle power plant project in Pocheon, Korea. Recently, he has also advised various Korean financial institutions and investment trusts for investments in infrastructure assets located in various jurisdictions, including investments in Aberdeen Global Infrastructure Partners II LP (Guernsey Partnership), Capital Dynamics Global Solar Energy Fund LP (Cayman Islands Partnership), InfraRed Infrastructure Yield LP (UK partnership), Lloyds Bank Global Infrastructure Partners LP (Jersey partnership), WHEB European Solar LP (Jersey Partnership), and Hudson Solar Infrastructure Separate Account I LP (US Delaware Partnership). There has been an increasing trend of investments in Solar PV farms in Japan and Mr. Kim has been involved in all facets for the following projects: SPARX Japan Solar M1 Godo Kaisaha (limited liability company in Japan); Hitachi Solar Power Project; and Hamada Solar Power Project

Mr. Kim also specializes in real estate projects and transactions. He advised the purchaser in relation to the sale and purchase of Seoul Finance Center building located at Yeouido in Seoul and is providing advice for the purchaser in relation to sale and purchase transaction of Tower 2 Building located at Yeouido in Seoul and other acquisition of A-class office buildings in Seoul.

Recently, Mr. Kim has been active in natural resource and energy transactions and currently advises various Korean governmental and private companies and funds in their investment in overseas natural resources including renewable energy.
