In Hyung Lee is a partner in the Litigation & Arbitration Group. Mr. Lee focuses his practice on general litigation with a special emphasis on tax, labor and employment, and administrative matters.

Prior to joining Lee & Ko in 2014, Mr. Lee served as a judge for over 20 years in various courts, most notably, as a Chief Judge in the Seoul Administrative Court. While serving as a judge, Mr. Lee participated in numerous rulings that helped to reshape the legal landscape of Korea, such as the granting of compensatory damages paid by union members of the Ssangyong Motor Co. during the 2009 layoff strikes, legally allowing Bacchus indigestion medicine and medicated patches (OTC drugs) to be sold in supermarkets and other general stores, providing a restrictive interpretation of comprehensive regulations under the Inheritance and Gift Tax Act of Korea thereby cancelling the imposition of a gift tax, and ordering the public disclosure of errors made in the translation of the US-Korea FTA. Given such a distinguished career on the bench, Mr. Lee is recognized as a leading expert in labor, employment, and tax dispute litigation.

At Lee & Ko, Mr. Lee has already achieved an impressive record of successful representation of numerous domestic and international clients in complex, cross-border litigations.

Mr. Lee received an LL.B. from Seoul National University and he completed his legal training at the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea.
