Kyu Bin (K) Kang is a U.S.-qualified attorney and CPA who joined Lee & Ko in 2024. He advises multinational corporations, financial institutions, and domestic securities firms on a broad range of tax matters, including general tax strategy, international tax issues, and cross-border structuring.

Prior to joining Lee & Ko, Mr. Kang worked as an accountant, advising multinational corporations, including U.S. subsidiaries of major Korean conglomerates, U.S. public companies, and corporations with an international presence, on a wide range of matters such as international tax implications and U.S.-bound structuring and reorganizations. During law school, he also served as a legal intern at the California Office of Tax Appeals, an independent administrative tribunal that hears and decides tax disputes between taxpayers and the State of California. In this role, Mr. Kang conducted legal research and drafted legal opinions for Administrative Law Judges.

Licensed as both an attorney and a CPA in California, he brings a unique dual-qualification perspective to his practice and has been deeply involved in high-profile projects spanning U.S., Korean, and international tax regimes, leveraging his expertise to help clients navigate the increasingly complex global tax landscape.

Mr. Kang’s practice involves inbound and outbound investment structures, treaty planning, transfer pricing, M&A tax, and audit defense, as well as advising Korean securities firms on the U.S. tax implications of their cross-border activities, including withholding, reporting, and compliance requirements. He also coordinates with global advisors on a broad range of tax issues, from income characterization under tax treaties to beneficial ownership, foreign partnership classification, and withholding tax disputes.
