Upon the request from Company P, which is engaging in the businesses of importing and selling of consumer chemical products, Lee & Ko was engaged to improve Company P’s existing business rules and procedures on chemicals management and established internal control procedures, thereby eliminating most of the risks associated with the enforcement of K-REACH and strict application of the Chemical Substances Management Act.

Although Company P had been importing and manufacturing numerous new or hazardous chemical substances for a substantial period of time, it had been subject to several findings of non-compliance due to the inefficient internal communications and control systems and human errors. The difficulty resulted from the large array of products and product types and the segregation of departments responsible for import and manufacture. Lee & Ko performed due diligence on the Company’s current procedures for chemicals manufacture and import, identified problems through interviews with employees in charge and analysis of company rules, and established a Standard Operation Procedure. Lee & Ko also established internal control procedures and educated employee officers thereon.
