Lee & Ko advised an affiliate of Hana Financial Group in Korea, Hana Asset Management Co., Ltd. (“Hana Asset”) (in its capacity as asset management company of a public real estate fund established under Korean law (the “Fund”)) on the Fund’s acquisition (via LA Hana OW LLC., a newly established company) of the DreamWorks campus leased by DreamWorks Animation as its headquarters for 20 years, with approximately 17.5 years of remaining lease term. Hana Asset acquired the DreamWorks campus for a purchase price of approximately USD $297 million dollars (assuming a 1,150 KRW/USD exchange rate), of which approximately USD $102 million dollars was raised through the Fund.
Lee & Ko, as Korean legal counsel to Hana Asset, provided a comprehensive review and analysis of the potential legal issues and conjured up and implemented the most effective transactional structure for this deal.
