Lee & Ko successfully advised on the sale of a total of 53,380,410 shares of Hyundai Securities (i) entrusted to trust company by Hyundai Merchant Marine (“HMM”) and (ii) owned by specially related parties to HMM (total shareholding of 22.56%). Hyundai Securities owns 100% interest in Hyundai Savings Bank and Hyundai Asset Management and this transaction was part of the sale of three financial companies owned by HMM for restructuring purposes. As Hyundai Securities is one of the large securities companies in Korea, this deal received great attention as a deal that could change the securities industry of Korea.
