Lee & Ko represented a domestic company in filing an injunction against the tax authority’s enforcement of tax collection in the amount of approximately KRW 78 billion following a corporate tax assessment made against the taxpayer. Despite the Korean court’s extreme reluctance in granting an injunction in tax cases (there has only been several cases for which the courts granted such injunction in the history of tax litigation), our team nevertheless successfully convinced the Seoul High Court on July 24 2014 to grant an injunction against the tax authority from collecting the corporate tax assessment made. The success in obtaining such ruling firmly established Lee & Ko as having one of the leading tax practice in the market.
