Lee & Ko served as the sole legal advisor to Hanwha Group in its acquisition of Samsung General Chemical, Samsung Total Petrochemicals, Samsung Techwin and Samsung Thales. The stock purchase agreement for the deal was signed on November 26, 2014.
Hanwha Group’s purchase of Samsung Group’s defense and chemical units garnered great attention from both the media and the public and was one of the most highly-publicized deals of 2014. The sale is expected to close in the first half of next year following the completion of legal due diligence of the target companies and the KFTC’s approval of the merger.
