Lotus Pharmaceuticals (a Taiwan company) completed the acquisition of effective managerial control over Kunhwa Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Alvogen Korea, when it succeeded in acquiring all outstanding shares of Alvogen Korea in August 2014. This marked an important component of a global M&A project which involved, among other things, a previous acquisition of a 67% interest in Lotus Pharmaceuticals by the Alvogen Group. Lee & Ko acted as Korean legal advisors for the transaction, beginning in the second half of 2013, by providing advice on various issues as well as performing other key legal services, including conducting a due diligence review for Lotus Pharmaceuticals. Pursuant to the acquisition by Lotus Pharmaceuticals, Kunwha Pharmaceuticals expects to benefit from a significantly more effective platform for launching successful product entries in the global market..
