Kiswire Ltd.’s Acquisition of ArcelorMittal’s Tire Code Business

Kiswire Ltd. (“Kiswire”) acquired the tire code business of ArcelorMittal by purchasing a 100% stake in ArcelorMittal Wire International S.A. (“AMWI”), the Luxemburg-based holding company of ArcelorMittal’s tire code business.  Kiwsire also indirectly acquired AMWI’s subsidiaries located in the U.S., Hungary, and China as a result of the transaction.  (The deal was signed on Dec. 9, 2013 and closed at the end of May 2014.)

Lee & Ko played a pivotal role in the transaction as legal counsel to Kiswire.  Not only did the acquisition provide ArcelorMittal with the chance to sell off one of its non-mainstream businesses, but it also provided Kiswire with the opportunity to strengthen its presence and competitiveness in the global tire code market.
