Around 2012, to prevent market entry of IPTV businesses, KT filed a criminal lawsuit against the 4 MSOs (CJ Hello Vision, Tbroad, C&M, and HCN) and its officers in violation of the Korean Broadcasting Act and interference with another’s business. Lee & Ko represented the 4 MSOs and obtained acquittal on all charges from the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office. Parallel to the above criminal lawsuit, KT filed for civil damages against the 4 MSOs with the claim amount approximating KRW 60 billion (2011gahap120267 Seoul Central District Court). Lee & Ko achieved a successful mediation outcome on March 26, 2014, resulting in KT’s withdrawal of all its claims.
