Lee & Ko successfully represented SK Telecom (“SKT”) on appeal in the SKT v. KT lawsuit arising from disputes relating to interconnection fees

Lee & Ko successfully represented SKT in the SKT v. KT lawsuit arising from disputes relating to interconnection fees for the use of mobile and fixed telecom networks of each other.  This case is noteworthy because even after SKT had lost a substantial portion of its claims in lower court during representation by another law firm, Lee & Ko stepped-in and successfully represented SKT in the appellate court by persuasive pleadings, oral arguments and supportive evidence with respect to network interconnection and related fee-settlement structures based on its expertise in the telecommunications business regulations.  As a result, the lower court’s decision against SKT was reversed by the appellate court and SKT became entitled to compensation for damages of almost KRW 60 billion from KT (including interest on unpaid interconnection fees).  Lee & Ko is currently representing SKT in KT’s appeal filed with the Supreme Court of Korea.
