Lee & Ko is currently representing HITE-Jinro Group in a leading case regarding the “comprehensive gift transfer” under the Inheritance and Gift Tax Law (the case is pending at the Seoul High Court). This lawsuit, which regards taxpayer’s petition to cancel a gift tax assessment in the amount of KRW 33 billion, is expected to determine the scope of what constitutes a deemed gift or a comprehensive gift transfer.
