Seminar on 'Law Issues in Waste Battery Recycling' - The 1st Environmental Law Seminar

Lee & Ko and the Korea Environmental Law Association (KELA) jointly held the 1st Environmental Law Seminar of 2023 on ‘Law Issues in Waste Battery Recycling’ on February 17, 2023,

Opening remarks by Byung-Chun So, President of KELA, and Lee & Ko’s Environmental Team, were followed by the first presentation by Hee-Young Kim, a Senior Researcher at the Korea International Trade Association’s Institute for International Trade focused on ‘Prospects and Global Trends in the Waste Electric Vehicle Battery Recycling Industry.’

In the second presentation, Hyeong Rae Kim, Deputy Director, Ministry of Environment, and Seok-Yeon Cho, Division Manager, Korea Environment Corporation, presented ‘Promoting Resources Circulation through Regulatory Improvement.’ Professor Sung Bae Kim of Kookmin University and Hae In Cho from our firm’s Environment Team presented on the topic of ‘Key Challenges on the Waste Battery Recycling Law.’ Finally, a general discussion session was moderated by Mr. Tong Keun Seol, Head of our firm’s Environment Team, where the presenters answered questions and further discussed with the participants how to improve the law on recycling waste batteries.
