Holds Seminar to Discuss Key Issues and Recent Trends Relating to Regulatory Investigations of Unfair Actions i

Lee & Ko’s Financial Regulation team held a seminar on August 26 to discuss and analyze certain key issues and trends observed with regard to recent regulatory investigations that have targeted unfair actions of participants in the capital market.

 

The seminar was held at Lee & Ko, in the Academia Room, and Mr. Choi Seung Hoon, a partner in the Banking and Finance Practice Group, acted as facilitator for the seminar. The seminar discussions commenced with the topic, ‘Practical Issues of Primary Concern in Investigations and Prosecutorial Actions Based on Charges of Unfair Actions in Connection with the Capital Market.’ The seminar then proceeded to a discussion of ‘Changes and Solutions: Issues Arising Within the Regulatory Framework for Dealing with Unfair Actions Involving Disruption of Orderly Market Activity.’

 

The main presenters were Mr. Jang Youngsub, a partner who recently jointed Lee & Ko from the Financial and Tax Crime Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office and Mr. Oh Weon Yong, who used to work in the Special Investigation Department of the Financial Supervisory Service. Additionally, Mr. Jung You Chull, who has experience working in the Financial and Tax Investigation Division in the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office and Mr. Myung Pan Joon, who worked in various financial regulation areas at the Financial Supervisory Service, made presentations during the seminar. These experts mainly discussed specific cases relevant to the investigatory framework and provided key insights concerning the perspective of financial supervisory authorities and prosecutors.
