On 05.06.2021, Herald Economy reports on the Lee & Ko Intellectual Property Practice Group’s recent victory in an appellate case, “a middle-market domestic company dodged a crisis, where it almost had to pay millions of dollars for breaching a license agreement after the passage of fifteen (15) years of time after the purchase of a foreign software product.”

Attorney Junghwan (Justin) Maeng, who advised on the case, stated, “the key to victory was our decision to re-engage the panel on the basics of the software product from the early phase of the appellate case.” Mr. Maeng further said, “recently, there have been many cases where global IT companies seek millions of dollars in monetary damages against our middle-market companies for breach of license, years after (often more than a decade after) selling them the software programs. We hope that this decision will be a good reference for other companies facing similar lawsuits.”
