On April 24, 2020, the Korea Economic Daily reported on a virtual talk on the subject of the role of law firms in the “post-COVID19 era” based on remarks made by 8 managing partners of major law firms.
Lee & Ko’s managing partner, Yong Seok Ahn, said that “after the COVID19 situation, companies will review their business models and the way they work will change,” and further stated that “in the midst of this crisis, Lee & Ko will strengthen its legislative consultation of companies.” He remarked, “Korea’s biggest competitive power has been corporate businessmen, and the reason Korea’s law firms were able to grow was because Korean corporations became global companies,” and emphasized that “we need to make it possible for companies who have run out of resources after months of declining sales due to COVID19 to be able to take off again.”
