朝鮮日報は2022年5月16日の報道で、急激に変化するデジタル金融分野にいち早く対応し、存在感を示しているLee&Ko法律事務所のデジタル金融グループに注目しました。
2015年からデジタル金融部門のリーガルサービスを提供してきたLee&Ko法律事務所は、昨年4月、フィンテックチームを「デジタル金融チーム」に拡大・再編し、さらに今年4月からはデジタル金融チームを「デジタル金融グループ」に拡大する等、迅速果敢な動きを見せています。
Lee&Koのデジタル金融グループは金東殷（キウ・ドンウン）Lee&Ko代表弁護士（司法研修院23期）と朴廣培（パク・グァンべ）弁護士（司法研修院17期）を共同グループ長とし、尹鍾秀（ユン・ジョンス）・高煥京（コ・ファンギョン）・姜賢求（カン・ヒョング）・崔佑榮（チェ・ウヨン）・孫京旼（ソン・ギョンミン）・李漢瓊（イ・ハンギョン）・孟正煥（メン・ジョンファン）・李日新（イ・イルシン）・李建勳（イ・ゴンフン）・朱成晥（チュ・ソンファン）弁護士等、約50名の弁護士・顧問・専門委員等で構成されています。

韓国経済新聞は2022年5月11日、Lee&Ko法律事務所がM&A専門の姜亨錫（カン・ヒョンソク）弁護士と李振旭（イ・ジンウク）弁護士を迎え入れたと報道しました。
姜亨錫弁護士（米国弁護士）は米国のポールヘイスティングス・ニューヨーク事務所を経て韓国の律村（ユルチョン）法律事務所で勤務し、ハンファグループによるサムスン総合化学・サムスントータル買収、CJ第一製糖によるロシア冷凍食品メーカー、ラビオリの買収等についてのアドバイザリー業務を担当しました。
李振旭弁護士（司法研修院36期）は律村でパートナー弁護士として活躍し、MBKパートナーズによるホームプラス買収、大熊製薬によるベトナムの製薬大手トラファコの持分買収等についてアドバイザリー業務を行っています。
韓国経済新聞は「今回の合流により昨年M&Aアドバイザリー市場で約19兆4700億ウォン規模の取引を成功させたLee&KoのM&Aアドバイザリー部門の競争力が一層強化されるものと思われる。」と見通しました。

2022年5月5日の中央日報には、Lee&Ko警察捜査対応チームのニュースが報道されました。
中央日報は、「Lee&Koは昨年、丁埰珉（チョン・チェミン、34期）元警察庁国家捜査本部安保犯罪分析課長（総警）を迎え入れ、丁元総警をチーム長とする「警察捜査対応チーム」を運営中であり、該当チームには18代警察庁長出身の李晟漢（イ・ソンハン）顧問をはじめ、警察庁捜査局・盆唐署サイバーチーム・大邱庁知能犯罪捜査隊などで勤務していた警察出身の人材が揃っている。」と述べています。

2022年5月1日の韓国経済と4日の朝鮮ビズには、韓国産ブロックバスター医薬品である保寧（ボリョン）製薬のデュカブ®の特許に対するジェネリック挑戦の防御に、Lee&Koヘルスケアチームが成功した事例が紹介されました。
朝鮮ビズは、「今回の審決は、韓国の製薬会社がオリジナル医薬品に対する大規模なジェネリック社の挑戦を防御した初の事件、かつ韓国製薬会社の医薬品に対する特許の均等侵害を認めた初の事例であるため、残り40社の審判事件も今回の審決基準に従うことが見込まれることから業界で注目されている。」と述べています

2022年04月28日、毎日経済にはLee&Ko法律事務所の産業安全重大災害チームが紹介されました。ここには、当事務所各分野の中核人材60人からなる産業安全・重大災害チームが重大災害事件第1号であるサムピョ産業事件を代理しており、江陵の水素タンク爆発事故について被告人3人の代理を担当して無罪判決を勝ち取ったことや、火災による死亡事故が発生した麗水火力発電所の粉塵爆発事件で不起訴処分を導き出したことなど、重大災害分野において当事務所が高い勝訴率を収めていると説明されています。

The Korea Economic Daily reported on outstanding performance by Lee & Ko’s Litigation and M&A Groups. The Korea Economic Daily stated “Lee & Ko has shown steady growth throughout the legal market’s ups and downs with 14.2% year-on-year increase in revenue to record KRW 366 billion last year.” The Korea Economic Daily further noted that Lee & Ko is comprised of a total of 8 practice groups providing legal services, Corporate/M&A, Banking & Finance, Litigation & Arbitration, Intellectual Property, Tax & Customs, Antitrust & Competition, Labor & Employment, and White-Collar Crimes, and such specialization strategy is key to Lee & Ko’s sustained growth.

On 20 April 2022, The Korea Economic Daily (KED) carried an in-depth article on Lee & Ko’s Financial Compliance Team.  According to KED’s article, “Lee & Ko’s financial compliance team has further strengthened its presence in the market in the past 2 years and is advising clients on major financial fraud cases involving asset management companies such as the recent Optimus Asset Management fraud case and Lime Asset Management fraud case.”  The article added that Lee & Ko’s financial compliance team has emerged as the leading firm in the market and boasts a large number of attorneys who have worked at financial supervisory authorities for more than 10 years.  It also noted that the team has been bolstered with the addition of Woong Seob ZHIN, a respected former Governor of Financial Supervisory Service, as a senior advisor in 2020.

2022年04月20日、韓国経済に当事務所のキム・サンゴン代表弁護士のインタビューが報道されました。キム・サンゴン代表弁護士は「重大災害、金融規制、ヘルスケアなど先制的に育成した専門チームの競争力を強化し、さらなる成長を続けていきたい」と述べました。

April 7, 2022. Tax Watch reported that Lee & Ko was an unbeatable market leader in corporate tax litigation practice during the first quarter of this year, dominating with a market share of over 40%. According to Tax Watch, the total amount of tax at stake in cases handled by Lee & Ko was over KRW 9 billion, constituting 41% of the corporate tax litigation market. Ju Hyun Park, Jaeman Park, Sung Hwan Kim and Hansol Lim at Lee & Ko participated in two of this year’s landmark tax litigation cases – the Seungsan case and the M Financial Service case.

The Korea Economic Daily reported that Lee & Ko appointed Sang Gon Kim as the new managing partner. The Korea Economic Daily stated that Sang Gon Kim, after joining Lee & Ko in 1994, became a star player in the Korean M&A market and took on major deals by Korea’s most noted companies such as LG/SK/CJ groups’ restructuring into holding company structures, dispute between Carl Icahn and KT&G, and the Samsung-Hanwha mega deal. Managing Partner Sang Gon Kim revealed that "taking on this immense responsibility has given me much to reflect on, but I will do my best so that Lee & Ko can continue its tradition of playing fair and by merit.”

On February 23, 2022, Chosun Biz reported that “the Seoul Central District Court ruled partially in favor of LG Household & Health Care (“LG H&H”) in a lawsuit that LG H&H filed against Tonymoly to seek the prohibition on acts of unfair competition on the part of Tonymoly. The article noted that “the decision establishes the first-ever precedent that the packaging design of a cosmetic product can be protected under the Unfair Competition Prevention and Trade Secret Protection Act if such packaging design is found to be an “achievement”, such as brand value, beyond being a simple packaging.”
