In April 2018, Lee & Ko was responsible for advising the issuer, LG Chem, on issuing global green bonds following the legal consultation on issuing USD 600 million in foreign currency exchange bonds, thus providing optimal advice for the issuer throughout the entire issuing process. This deal was a transaction carried out under the expertise of attorneys Hyunjoo Oh, Seunga Hyun, Dongyon Kim, Sanghyun Ahn from Lee & Ko’s Capital Markets Group and is very significant in that the green bonds issued by LG Chem amount to about 1.6 billion dollars, the largest in scale among green bonds issued by a Korean company, and also that it is the first ever successful green bond issuance among chemical companies worldwide.
