Euromoney, an internationally prominent publisher of expert reviews and analyses of legal and financial service providers, announced its selection of Lee & Ko as the recipient of its prestigious “Best Law Firm in South Korea” award at the Asia Women in Business Law Awards ceremony for 2015.
Euromoney has established this award to celebrate and recognize the achievements of law firms in providing opportunities, training and support for women in the legal profession, including a focus on leading female practitioners. The award categories are divided into awards given on a country basis and awards given on a practice-area basis. The 2015 ceremony was held on November 11 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Hong Kong.
Lee & Ko received the highest scores for its professionalism and competed well with other major law firms. Ultimately, Lee & Ko was selected as the recipient of the award for “Best Law Firm in South Korea.”. Additionally, Tay Kim, a tax law expert at Lee & Ko, received the “Rising Star” award for the tax practice area. This award is given to lawyers whose professionalism and expertise have received particularly positive attention in Asia during the past year. Prior to joining Lee & Ko, Tay Kim worked as an investigator at the National Tax Service for ten years and also distinguished herself as an administrative court judge. Her published articles include: “A Study of Penalties Imposed on Tax Violators”.
Hyunjoo Oh, a Lee & Ko partner in the Capital Markets Group, was put on a shortlist of professionals deserving recognition in the Capital Markets area based on her success in providing legal advice and guidance for the initial issuance of a foreign exchange stabilization bond. She is known as one of the best lawyers in Korea for advising clients on derivative product structures and planning. In the IP litigation practice category, Keum Nang Park, a Lee & Ko partner in the Healthcare & IP Practice Groups, was also on a shortlist of top candidates considered for recognition as the best lawyer in Asia for IP Litigation matters.
