As a member of Lee & Ko’s Antitrust & Competition Group, Minchul Kim advises both domestic and foreign clients on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues including multi-jurisdictional merger control, international cartel and various types of unfair trade practice. While Mr. Kim joined Lee & Ko upon graduating from Seoul National University School of Law with honors, he also has a strong background in business administration and economics as being the valedictorian of his graduating class at Department of Business Administration, Seoul National University where he earned two bachelor’s degrees.

Merger Control & Corporate Governance Issues
Representing and advising SK Ecoplant in connection with regulatory issues arising from the acquisition of Environment Management Corporation (formerly known as EMC Holdings) and its fifteen subsidiaries, including merger notification in Korea.
Representing Jungheung Construction in connection with multi-jurisdictional merger notifications for the acquisition of Daewoo E&C.
Representing Taekwang Industrial in connection with multi-jurisdictional merger notifications for the establishment of a joint venture (i.e. a prospective manufacturer of acrylonitrile) with LG Chem.
Representing Mercedes-Benz in connection with merger notification in Korea for the acquisition of joint control in an existing joint venture (i.e. a prospective manufacturer of Li-ion cells & modules for automotive applications) between Stellantis and TotalEnergies.
Representing F&F in connection with its conversion into a holding company within the meaning of the Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act.
KFTC Investigations & Other Regulatory Issues
Representing a Korean telecommunications company in connection with the investigation and deliberation proceedings led by the Korea Fair Trade Commission on alleged unfair support arising from intra-group transactions, resulting in a major reduction in the amount of administrative fines imposed.
Representing a Chinese container shipping company in connection with the investigation by the Korea Fair Trade Commission on alleged cartels among international competitors serving Korea-China shipping routes, resulting in a complete exemption from administrative fines.
Representing a U.S. fabless semiconductor company in connection with the investigation and deliberation proceedings led by the Korea Fair Trade Commission on alleged abuse of superior bargaining position against “S” Electronics, resulting in an approval for the commencement of the consent order process.
Conducting regulatory compliance project concerning intra-group transactions within “S” Group.
Conducting preemptive review and providing analysis on prospective antitrust legislations targeting online platforms.
