Since joining Lee & Ko IP in 2019, Joonyoung Kwak has advised and assisted clients on IP applications and litigations relating to patents and utility models focusing on inventions in electrical & electronic engineering and communication. He does this by bringing to the fore his extensive practice experience and in-depth knowledge accumulated over 22 years in the fields of electrical & electronic engineering, communication, and mechanical engineering at the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB), and the Patent Court.

He has experienced a wide range of practical works relating to patents, including serving as a patent examiner, a judge assistant, a judge, a technical advisor, a head of the semiconductor examination division and the measurement & analysis technology examination division, and a head of the patent examination system division, for the KIPO. Mr. Kwak also served as a head of the standard patent & semiconductor property team and conducted the business of creating and utilizing standard patents as well as semiconductor layout rights, among other things.
