Richard Byung-Choon Ihn is a leading tax partner in Lee & Ko's Tax Group. Before joining Lee & Ko, he worked as a tax specialist for more than 25 years at Samjong KPMG where he advised numerous major multinational enterprises and financial institutions. From the earliest stages of his career as a tax specialist, particularly including his work during and following the Asian Financial Crisis, Mr. Ihn has provided expert tax advice to numerous foreign investment corporations with regard to a comprehensive range of concerns and issues, including (among other things) advising and assisting with strategic tax structuring, tax due diligence examinations, tax audits, tax appeals and tax ruling requests. Recently, in addition to advising on tax consequences and related concerns for inbound investment transactions involving the Korean market, he has successfully advised on a broad range of outbound tax planning matters in connection with expansions into overseas markets, as well as advising foreign and Korean corporations on M&A-related deal structuring, tax due diligence and other tax concerns. His major clients include Korean and foreign/multinational companies in various industrial and business sectors, including manufacturing (electronic devices, automobiles, etc.), pharmaceuticals, banking and financial investment services, real estate investment, construction and engineering, information technology, etc. Mr. Ihn received B.A. in business administration from Sogang University and an M.A in taxation from the University of Seoul. He is a member of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Korean Association of Certified Tax Accountants.
