Young Jae Park is a partner in Lee & Ko’s Litigation and Arbitration Group. He primarily practices in dispute advisory and litigation in the areas of shipping, insurance, shipbuilding, aviation, and international commercial disputes. His expertise also includes arbitration and cross-border insolvency practice, representing both domestic and foreign clients in various cross-border cases .
Mr. Park has been actively involved in a number of major maritime casualty cases, including M/T Wuyisan c/w GS Caltex oil berth case, sinking of M/V Tan Binh 136, grounding and oil spillage from M/T Solomon Trader occurred in the area of Solomon Islands, fire and explosion on board a container ships and car carriers, representing P&I Clubs, IOPC Fund, (re)insurers, and global companies. He has also been involved in various cargo claims, container demurrage, bill of lading and charterparty disputes, ship arrests, and shipbuilding disputes.
Mr. Park is also experienced in numerous international arbitration cases (LMAA, SIAC, SCMA, KCAB, SMAA) and has also been involved in diverse insurance cases (other than maritime insurance); professional indemnity insurance, CAR, EAR, general commercial liability insurance, performance bond, forwarder liability insurance, BBB policy, D&O policy, Product Recall Policy, reinsurance, DSU representing both domestic and global (re)insurance companies.
In addition to being a Member of the Korean Bar, Mr Park is qualified as a solicitor admitted in England & Wales. He is well recognized as an exceptional practitioner with analytical skills and in-depth insight into English law practice as well. In 2020, he completed his Master of Laws degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
