Successful Representation in Lawsuit Regarding Acquisition Tax on Leased Cars

Lee & Ko represented the Seoul Metropolitan Government in a lawsuit against the local governments to determine who has authority to impose acquisition taxes on leased cars. With KRW 23 billion at stake all together and multiple cases presented before the Seoul Administrative Court, on August 28, 2015, Lee & Ko has prevailed in those cases in which the court has reached a conclusion. We expect this case to put an end to the conventional practice of venue shopping encouraged by the different local tax rates applied to leased cars.
