Osram GmbH, a manufacturer of Light Emitting Diodes (“LED”), filed a complaint against LG Electronics and LG Innotek before the U.S. ITC and a U.S. federal court, alleging infringement of its LED-related patents. In turn, LG Electronics and LG Innotek filed complaints against Osram before courts in Korea, the U.S., and China, claiming that Osram had infringed their LED-related patents.. Lee & Ko performed a leading role as strategic legal advisors to LG Electronics and LG Innotek in this global dispute with Osram and represented the two companies in the related lawsuit filed in Korea. Lee & Ko’s strategic legal advice and legal representation in court ultimately led to a satisfactory global settlement for our clients in November 2012.
