The second edition of “Fintech and the Law” has recently been published. “Fintech and the Law” is a book that provides helpful guidance and analysis on various legal issues relating to financial services and technology (“fintech”), and is jointly authored by Hyun Koo Kang, a member of Lee & Ko’s fintech team, Ju Seon Yoo, a professor in the public service human resources department at Kangnam University and Seong Nam Lee, a professor in the finance and insurance studies department at Mokpo National University.
In this new, revised edition, extensive supplemental materials are introduced to take into account many new developments that have occurred (following publication of the first edition) in the very rapidly evolving fintech sector, and include new commentary and analysis on various topics, such as P2P lending/payment settlements, crowd-funding and crypto-currencies, among others.
The book has been highly praised for its unique combination of practical legal and business insights with theoretical/academic insights, a comprehensive perspective that represents the different backgrounds of the authors who cooperated on this project, and has also received praise for the way that the authors succeed in analyzing the myriad laws and regulations that impact the fintech/financial services sector and exploring ways of narrowing the gap between the differing perspectives of regulators and actors in the fintech sector. The authors’ approach includes a thorough examination of the current situation and most salient legal issues, as well as an investigation of relevant developments in various major national markets.
