Mr. Young Jae Cho, a demonstrated expert in international trade, foreign investment and energy, joined Lee & Ko on November 1, 2011. Mr. Cho is ranked as a leading lawyer in Chambers Global 2012, and is the principal outside legal counsel for both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade (MOFAT) and the Ministry of Strategy & Finance (MOSF). His trade practice areas cover cutting-edge matters, such as Korea-US and Korea-EU FTAs including, but not limited to, domestic implementation thereof and investor-state dispute (ISD) as well as traditional trade matters such as trade remedy, trade dispute, and export control.
In addition, Mr. Cho has been actively involved in foreign investment regulatory matters relating to foreign investment zones (FIZ), foreign economic zones (FEZ), tax and cash incentives for foreign investors, etc. Among his precedent-setting cases are the designation of FIZ for R&D center and the revised designation of FIZ without termination for the change in foreign investor, both of which are the first cases in kind respectively.
