Wankyu Chung is a senior advisor at Lee & Ko. With nearly 30 years of experience in public service and senior leadership roles at major financial institutions and industry associations, Mr. Chung brings deep expertise in financial policy, regulation, supervision, and market practice.

During his government service, Mr. Chung held key positions at the Financial Services Commission, including Commissioner of the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit, Director General of the Financial Inclusion Policy Bureau, Director General of the Planning and Coordination Bureau, Director of the Capital Markets Division, Director of the Asset Management Division, and Director of the Market Oversight Division. Through these roles, he gained extensive experience in the design, implementation, and supervision of financial policies across a wide range of sectors, including banking, capital markets, asset management, non-banking financial institutions, and financial intelligence.

Following his public service, Mr. Chung served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Korea Securities Finance Corporation and Chairman of the Korea Federation of Credit Finance Associations. At Korea Securities Finance Corporation, he contributed to the development of Korea’s capital markets, including by enhancing liquidity support functions. As Chairman of the Korea Federation of Credit Finance Associations, he represented and coordinated the interests of credit card companies, capital companies, and new technology venture capital finance companies, while promoting regulatory reform and industry innovation.

Drawing on his combined experience in financial policymaking, regulatory supervision, institutional management, and industry coordination, Mr. Chung provides strategic and practical advice on complex financial regulatory matters, including regulatory approvals and licensing, government relations, financial compliance, corporate governance, internal controls, and risk management.
