As a member of Lee & Ko's Healthcare & IP Practice Groups, Jihyun Koo's practice focuses on assisting clients with regard to regulatory, transactional and IP-related matters relating to pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and other healthcare products. In addition to being a licensed attorney, Ms. Koo is also a licensed pharmacist, and previously worked at AstraZeneca Korea, a multinational pharmaceutical company.
Ms. Koo has extensive experience in handling a wide range of healthcare and IP litigation cases and has successfully assisted and advised many healthcare companies in such matters. Prior to joining Lee & Ko, she served as in-house legal counsel for Johnson&Johnson Korea, where she managed numerous healthcare regulatory matters and general corporate concerns.
Some examples of the types of cases that Ms. Koo has recently handled include acting for healthcare companies in obtaining product approval cancellations and product delistings, as well as advising on rebate matters. She recently represented a pharmaceutical company against the National Health Insurance Service in a claim for damages relating to a controversy concerning raw material synthesis.
She has also successfully advised healthcare companies on various legal and regulatory issues regarding new drug applications, drug-pricing, rebates, privacy policies, regulatory compliance, clinical trials, labeling, advertising matters, legal audits, and registration of patents on the KFDA Green List drug patent-approval linkage system (similar to the US FDA Orange List). She has also advised a multinational eye bank concerning the establishment of an affiliated entity in Korea.
