Ji Young Lee, a Partner in the Securities & Capital Markets Group, focuses his practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, private equity funds, capital markets and corporate financing, especially acquisition financing.

Mr. Lee has advised a wide range of clients in connection with the establishment and operations of domestic and overseas private equity funds. Mr. Lee has provided advice with respect to various types of funds, including mezzanine funds, hedge funds, and fund of funds investing in foreign private equity funds.

With an ability to quickly spot the unique needs of each individual investor, Mr. Lee has assisted a number of high-profile financial investors with their investment activities. He has represented Macquarie Opportunities Fund in connection with its sale of shares in SK E&S and has assisted Macquarie Korea with its acquisitions of expressway rest areas. He has also handled a wide variety of M&A transactions including share or asset sales, including sale of shares of Moleem to TPG, sale of KDA to Skylake fund, purchase of Nongwoo Bio by Nonghyup and purchase of Medical Robot business from Hyundai Heavy industry. Mr. Lee has also represented a number of funds on legal matters regarding their investments in various forms of assets as well as their formations.

Mr. Lee has been involved in various types of syndicated lending, especially in connection with acquisition financing. He has represented the lenders in mega-sized landmark M&A deals in Korea including Baring Private Equity Asia's acquisition of Lafarge Halla Cement, Doosan Industrial Vehicle's business transfer, and Korean private equity funds' investment in Doosan Infracore China.

Before joining Lee & Ko in 2007, Mr. Lee was an associate at Kim & Company where he began his career as an attorney in 2003.

Mr. Lee's top quality legal service has earned him the reputation as one of the most knowledgeable attorneys in his areas of practice. Due to his reputation as a leading expert especially in the field of private equities, Mr. Lee has been invited to lecture on the topic of "PEF establishment practice in Korea" offered by the Financial Supervisory Service in 2007, 2008 and on the topic of Syndicated Financing offered by Korea Banking Institute.
