Since 2008, Hyungwon Chae has been representing and handling the IP matters of top-tier U.S. and Japanese multinational corporations. His practice focuses on patent prosecutions and trials, patent invalidation and infringement analysis, patent prior art searches, pre-litigation patent strategies and patent litigation.

He has extensive patent prosecution experience in a wide range of technology areas including but not limited to: semiconductor devices and manufacturing processes, display devices, image sensors, telecommunication, computer engineering, printers, medical devices, circuits, video and audio processing algorithms, computer software technologies, and business methods. He has also prosecuted US patent applications for semiconductor devices.

Hyungwon has handled patent disputes (invalidation and confirmation of claim scope trials along with patent infringement suits) and trade secrets disputes in the fields of 3GPP LTE, OLED displays, LCD manufacturing processes, LCD panels, semiconductor manufacturing processes, TV network systems, and semiconductor inspection devices. His work has also involved conducting prior art searches and providing consultations on patent infringement and validity matters in the fields of semiconductor manufacturing devices, image sensors, medical devices, biometrics, UI in smartphones, digital image processing, toll processing devices and home appliances, among others

He joined Lee & Ko IP in 2016 and, as a partner, is in charge of the electrical and mechanical patent practice areas as well as Japanese patent prosecution matters.
