Jongseok Lee is a partner at Lee & Ko. Mr. Lee specializes in Legislative Consulting and Government Contracts. He has additional expertise in Intellectual Property (Copyright) and Mergers & Acquisitions.

Prior to joining the firm in 2000, Mr. Lee passed the Public Administration Examination in 1990 and began his career in public service as an Assistant Director at the Administrative Appeals Committee under the Office of the Prime Minister, where he assisted the members of the Administrative Appeals Committee in connection with administrative review cases. He also worked for the Ministry of Legislation where he was promoted as a Director. In this position, he drafted and amended laws, and enforcement (presidential) decrees.

As the head of the Legislative Consulting Team, Mr. Lee assisted the National Assembly and various government agencies under the Executive Branch in drafting legislations and counseled various clients on administrative law matters. He also represented a number of clients before the administrative review committees of government agencies. His long service as a senior official at the Ministry of Legislation has proven resourceful in solving difficult administrative law issues and finding best solutions for clients in dealing with government agencies.

Mr. Lee's practice also extends to IP, with particular expertise in copyrights. He represented many clients in protecting their copyrights, and won a number of landmark cases in copyright litigations, including his representation of the Korea Music Copyright Association against a global coffee franchise involving a musical copyright infringement claim.

Mr. Lee is well-experienced in M&A. He represented many clients in landmark transactions such as the acquisition of controlling shares in the largest construction company in Korea and the acquisition of controlling shares in the largest golf course in Korea. He is also an expert in foreign investments and has been assisting many foreign investors with investments and launching new businesses in Korea.
