Ms. Jayoung Koo is an experienced patent attorney with a demonstrated history of successfully representing multinational corporations before the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB), Patent Court, and Supreme Court. Her practice focuses on patent prosecutions and trials, patent invalidation and infringement analysis, patent prior arts searches, pre-litigation strategies for patent disputes and patent litigation in various technical fields.

Ms. Koo is experienced in preparing and prosecuting patent applications before KIPO and the IPTAB in several fields, such as pharmaceuticals, biology, chemistry and agricultural science. She has also handled patent litigations in pharmaceutical patents related to diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, congestive heart failure, hyperlipidemia, thromboembolism, hemophilia, diabetes and hypertension, as well as chemical patents related to anisotropic conductive films, foamed particles, photoresist compositions and others. Her work has also involved conducting prior art search and review and providing consultation on patent infringement and validity issues relating to antidepressants, antibodies, stem cells, genetic scissors, enzymes, peptides, vaccines, organic compounds, functional cosmetics, microorganisms and wafer polishing agents. She also has experience dealing with patent listings, Patent Term Extension (PTE) applications and filing petitions for generic stay to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS).

She is also knowledgeable in Korean regulations related to pharmaceutical authorizations including the drug-patent linkage system thanks to her extensive experiences gained as the specialist for MFDS Central Pharmaceutical Affairs Review Committee.
