Seminar/Event Lee & Ko Hosts Seminar on Risk Factors Relating to Changes in United States Foreign Investment Laws2018.09.18
Lee & Ko recently hosted a seminar titled “An Examination of Changes in United States Foreign Investment Laws and Related Risk Factors.”
The purpose of the seminar, which was jointly sponsored by the Federation of Korean Industries, was to focus attention on certain risk factors facing Korean companies in connection with investments in the United States, pursuant to recent changes in the foreign investment laws of the United States and amidst a trade environment that has steadily worsened in the past two years.
In the first session of the seminar, Lee & Ko attorney Chee Kwan Kim delivered a presentation concerning the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act and investment into the United States. He was followed by Lee & Ko attorney Nelson Ahn, who gave a presentation analyzing certain key cases involving reviews conducted by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.
Following the presentations, a discussion panel engaged in an informative discussion, moderated by Seokyoung Choi, a former senior diplomat and Korean ambassador in Geneva (currently serving as a senior advisor at Lee & Ko). Participants in the discussion panel included Chee Kwan Kim of Lee & Ko, Professor Kwanho Kim of Dongguk University and General Affairs Managing Director Gil Seong Kang of LG Electronics.
