As one of the largest law firms in Korea, Lee & Ko attaches great importance on corporate social responsibility. Lee & Ko as a firm, as well as the individual professionals and staff members who comprise the Lee & Ko family, actively seek out opportunities to serve the broader community outside the firm and to provide effective assistance to people in need. In particular, Lee & Ko has developed a special emphasis on helping disadvantaged children and their families to overcome hardships and to achieve their goals as productive and valued members of society.

In support of such efforts, Lee & Ko encourages the firm’s professionals to make their special expertise available on a pro bono basis to charitable organizations and to individuals in need. The firm also encourages everyone in the firm, professionals and staff alike, to use their diverse talents and abilities to serve society in a wide variety of creative and productive ways. Such activities include, among other things, providing free legal counseling and education through regularly scheduled programs, organizing/sponsoring choir concerts, musical events and charity bazaars, and participating in many other types of volunteer work.

In 2007, Lee & Ko formally established its “Pro Bono Committee” to coordinate public service projects and adopted the slogan “When kids smile, the world brightens.” This slogan encapsulates the aspirations and special motivation that drives our volunteer work. In the years following its establishment, Lee & Ko’s Pro Bono Committee has expanded its efforts and focus. While Lee & Ko continues to have a special emphasis on serving the needs of underprivileged children, we have liaised with many outside organizations, such as the Ministry of Law, the Korean Bar Association, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and Child Fund Korea in order to also organize and furnish support for a wide variety of public service projects. Lee & Ko and its members continue to dedicate themselves to public service and welcome proposals and suggestions from outside organizations for our participation in appropriate public service and charitable activities.
